My life has 9 rooms.

One,
Each passing day I welcome thoughts of her into my mind.
Thoughts I can only hold on to in times of despair.
Two,
I could swear I see rainbows under my pillow each night.
But whenever I trace it to the end, I see no pot of gold.
One of these days, I might recruit a search party.
Three,
I eat, sleep, and wake.
That’s the daily routine.
Anything else comes in second place.
I hope the same won’t happen on my wedding night.
Four,
If I ever get married, I won’t say no to anime.
If I have children, I’ll make sure I pass the tradition on.
For what’s life without comic books and cartoon network?
Five,
To the boys who will one day date my daughter,
I started perfecting head shots the day she was born.
I bought a large size plastic bag the day she started school
And I’ve got a silent gun too.
Six,
To the girls who will one day want to date my daughter,
Let’s just hope I have only one bullet left when meet.
Seven,
I’m scared of heights,
So I never raise my hand in class.
I fear the eagles of failure will pull off my hand of hope.
That’s why I keep it hidden.
Eight,
I keep consoling myself, saying
“My time will come”.
What I didn’t realize was the clock of life was actually waiting for me to insert the battery.
Nine,
I call my failures Adwoa

And my successes Abena,

My hopes bear the name Akua
Ten,
I try very hard to keep myself under the carpet cos I don’t want to be noticed.

Matters Of The Heart (A Love Poem)

So glowing beauty. Strands of words which flee your lips Bind me in everlasting chains of love. To you alone I give my love. To you alone I give my all. To you alone I surrender. So glowing beauty. The perfect radiance that emit from your smile. The way your words sink me deep down its Nile. The way you ignore when I wrong Makes me sing this song. To you alone I give my joy. To you alone I give my peace. So glowing beauty. Like the keys of the piano, You blend my white with black. Together we’re complete; there’s nothing we lack. When you stepped into my life, I gave in to your charm. Now I don’t want to let you go; Prune me neat, like your farm. So glowing beauty… Dheric Da Poet © 2015 No right reserved!

90 MINUTES OF LIFE

1st min The whistle was blown when the doctor yelled ''push!''. The pass was given when the nurse cut the umblical cord. Free kick Ouch Blood everywhere, So I won a free kick. This game just started ''bloodily'' I was the ball, They played me from half to half. So they called me ''bouncing baby boy''. Ignorant of the insults I rained on them, they smiled while I shed tears. They said, ''This baby is from Heaven''. I agreed. Cos the door I came through was very narrow; so I came head first. Dribbling. They kept me in a sac called amiotic. Waiting for me to join the statistic. But 45mins into the game, I became artistic. Wanting the best in life made me optimistic. Half time. Talk with my God. Where do I go? How do I go? When do I go? 2nd half. Good job Good wife Good children. That's all I need. Final minutes. Now, they play me in the 18yard box. Ready to kick me into the wood-like net. ...

My Identity

I die a 1000 deaths every second I’m pressed on both sides. I’m weary from the battles I’ve fought; And being the enemy’s ride. I stand and watch as lose my dignity; I lose my pride. So anytime the saviour comes calling, I hide. I’ve eaten of the tree forbidden; Disobeyed the master’s law. I was perfectly crafted But now, with leaves, do I cover my flaw. My identity tarnished! With the help of the cunning one. Reduced me to nothing; I can’t even be called a man. Didn’t come with guns; Just a sweet tongue. Persuaded me to walk his path And dance to the song he sang. Now, I’ve been written off. My name, wiped from the books of record. I’ve lost all hope I ever had; Even tore my record. But time met time and brought time to me. My blindfold was taken off So now I can see. With the anger of the righteous, I pursue the evil. Steadfast in action, to the grain, like the weevil. My heavy name, Substituted for a lighte...
